A Day In The Life Of A Cabin Crew: Know It Closely!

Do you dream of being a cabin crew and wonder how they lead their lives? Are you already clear with the first round of the interview and getting butterflies in your stomach? Then, don’t worry because we are here. Here in this post we would tell you all that’s necessary about your new job.

The job of a cabin crew might attract many a students and teenagers but they would certainly not have a definite idea about how actually is a life of a cabin crew up close and personal.

Therefore, know that though you might be hugely anxious about the new journey that you would begin with your new job, it is as thrilling as you have dreamt it.

Some Basic Duties Before Boarding and During the Journey

So, here lies some of the fundamental duties of a cabin crew while you are onboard:

  • ● Checking the cabin before the flight takes off for the security purposes. Further, double-checking with the equipments and meal are essential right at the first.
  • ● Helping in the boarding of the passengers and keeping an eye on the storage of their luggages.
  • ● Demonstrating the passengers before the take off for their safety and how they can help themselves while the flight takes off and during the journey.
  • ● Serving the meals and refreshments for the passengers.
  • ● Duty free service.
  • ● Announcements of diverse types.
  • ● First Aid
  • ● Facing the in-air turbulences and dealing with the difficult passengers on-board.
  • ● Preparing things for landing.
  • ● Helping in the disembarkation of the passengers.
  • ● Checking for security purposes inside the flight and cleaning the cabin.
  • ● Furthermore, along with all these you would be extremely vigilant for your own safety and security and nurture good wit to act in challenging situations.

With these being said, remember that for the work hours, there is no time or date for a cabin crew. You will get a roster 4-6 weeks in advance and a working day shall count anything from 6-14 hours of work. You may also get time at the destination where you would probably have a layover. Let’s Live a Day in the Life of a Cabin Crew!

04:30 - 05:15 Wake Up!

You have to wake up precisely at this hour of dawn and get yourself presentable. You must also ensure that you are all fine and dressed and done already with your breakfast. After this, you need to report at your at least 1.5 hours prior to the departure of the aircraft to ensure that you’ve got time enough to settle things.

06:15 - 06:30 Hit the Airport Base

You must verify with your pigeon-hole for any updates and also with your roster to inform yourself of any amendments. Next, go through the cabin manual/first-aid manual quickly before you go for the brief.

06:30 - 07:00 Briefing the Crew

Everything will be informed by your senior crew member and things will get cleared in here in the form of questions and answers.

07:00 - 07:30 Check the Aircraft

Once you’re onboard now, you will have to make sure that everything is perfect. This includes overhead lockers, seat back pockets and the floor area.

07:30 - 08:00 Preparation with the Boarding of the passengers and Take Off

Appear gay in front of the passengers while they board in and then, once everything is done, take them through the safety demonstration.

08:10 - 11:45 Services While In Flight

After the aircraft takes off and as soon as the seatbelt signs are switched off, you can start with the services in flight, regardless of whether they are free or chargeable. Here, prepared to check toilets for cleanliness and security purposes.

11:45 - 13:00 Landing Preparations, Landing and Turnaround

Now, when the landing time is approaching, brief and prepare the passengers for the landing and ensure that all can embark successfully. This is to be followed by the loading of new catering and security checks all around.

13:00 - 17:00 Do Everything in the Same Way as You did Earlier

17:00 - 18:00 Landing at the Destination

So, once you are back again on the ground after the passengers have driven away, proceed with the ultimate security check, accompanied with some cleaning activities. Next, check your roster back again for any changes. Then, you can retreat homewards and lay back.
